International Urban Design Competition (2-phase), Phase 1 Entire Area, 2nd Phase Marstall Exhibited 06/2010 DE-30159 Hannover.
As Consultant working with Pablo Molestina of Molestina Architekten & Thomas Fenner of FSWLA Landschaftsarchitektur to develop the design strategy for re-envisioning Hannover. This included a restructuring of a number of large green spaces and streets in order to reconnect and shape pedestrian experience.
A strategy was developed initially through the documentation of ‘what is’ and then developing the larger linkages and a series of ‘experiential walks’ started at the entry points to the city, the train station and the Autobahn. In this wayfinding significant views and landmarks, which would help to orientate a pedestrian within the city terrain. This was developed, working with a large-scale model and composite photographs & video documentation and analysis, to create the overall design strategy (w. PM and TF noted earlier) that worked both experientially from the standpoint of the pedestrian and urbanistically in terms of viewpoints, paths and orientation.
